Use H2 and H3 Headings to Your Benefit

Your headings should be rich in SEO keywords. Heading settings should not be used to increase your font size; they should be used to properly outline your post and relay pertinent keywords instead. H2 and H3 headings help Google recognize the main points of your posts which can also help with your ranking. They also help your readers easily scan and grasp your key points.  If they see information in your headings that could be beneficial to them, they are more likely to stay and read the whole post.


Maintain a Keyword-Rich Structure

While it’s important to make sure you have plenty of keywords, make sure your use of them maintain the flow of your blog and seem natural. The key is to create a perfect mix of your tone and writing style along with those major keywords. If you start out by planning your blog to be SEO friendly and are intentional about your keyword placement, this should be pretty simple.

The most important areas to place keywords are: 

  • Blog Title
  • Inside the first paragraph
  • First H2 Heading (and other H2 headings as well if possible)
  • At least one H3 heading
  • Once per section of the text
  • Conclusion paragraph
  • Yoast Title
  • Meta Snippet
  • Focus Keyword
  • Slug
  • File name for all images

Online Keyword Search Tools

Keywords Everywhere – our favorite tool to find keywords related to our business, Keywords Everywhere is a paid extension for Chrome. Every time you Google a topic, it will bring up related keywords and other topic suggestions that people search for. It also displays how many times that specific topic is searched for per month. With Keywords Everywhere, $10 will get you 100,000 credits and should last for many months. Each Google search uses about 100 credits, but the extension can (and should) be turned off if you aren’t doing keyword research, that way it will seem as if it lasts for-ev-er!

Ubersuggest – Ubersuggest is a platform that gives your insights based on specific keywords. Type in a keyword and it shows you domain overviews, top SEO pages, keyword suggestions, content, and backlink data. There are free and paid versions of this service, so be sure to look into it to find out which version would be most beneficial to your business.

Answer the Public – This is a free platform that helps you find out specifically what people are searching for based on a topic, brand, or product. You can narrow your search for your specific country and language which can also be super helpful.

Google – This may seem like an obvious one, but it can be a very helpful tool. Make sure to pay attention to when Google auto-populates your search terms and shows what others have searched. Google will also give you suggestions based on what “people also ask”. 


WordPress Plugin

Yoast plugin for WordPress – If you use WordPress for your website, this Yoast plugin is a must. There is a free version of the plugin which will be all you need! This plugin will help you get more visitors via Google and Bing as well as help attract more visitors and increase engagement.


There are many more inexpensive and free options on the internet that can help you with your SEO strategy. It’s important you look into them yourself to find which best meets your business and ministry needs. We use several simultaneously.
